1. Wood Carving Skill Demonstration

Time︰16:00 – 17:00
Introduction of techniques and safe usage of carving knife, further to observe wood as a creative material: such as the relationship between wood grain and wood eye, the treatment and maintenance of the finished product, how to polish and what kind of protective oil to use. Suggestions on simple DIY projects will be introduced, while sharing on how to identify suitable materials in daily life to practice and create wood sculpture. Participants will have a glimpse on wood sculptors’ creative direction in the process.
2. Wooden Handmade Pencil Demonstration

Living in a world with advanced technology, people are always rushing to catch up with life, sometimes we neglect or even give up on things around us in the process. Nowadays, we can draw to your heart’s desire on our phones with fingers. Living in an era where pen and paper are no longer needed for writing with technological aids like voice to text, who still remembers a humble pencil in the stationery store?
Has anyone ever finished using up a pencil? In fact, pencil-manufacturing requires over a dozen steps, before it would be comfortable enough to grip, write and erase. Pencils have a long history, and many interesting trivia waiting to be shared.
